June 10 is on fire -- the super-steamed Miguel Cotto vs. Paulie Malignaggi showdown at Madison Square Garden will include the pro debut of Notre Dame football player Tommy Zbikowski and a middleweight title defense for Irish sensation John Duddy, announced Bob Arum of Top Rank today. Cotto, Malignaggi, Duddy and Tommy Z will be at a Top Rank press conference at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Wednesday. The Cotto vs. Malignaggi card on June 10 will include:

-- Kevin Kelley, the Flushing Flash, 58-6-2, 39 KOs.
-- Irish John Duddy, 16-0-0, 14 KOs. The sensational, hard-punching middleweight will make the first defense of his WBC/Continental Americas title.
-- Notre Dame defensive back Tommy Zbikowski of Arlington Heights, Ill. This will be the pro debut for Tommy Z, a heavyweight. He is going into his senior year for the Fightin' Irish football team. When he played at Buffalo Grove, Ill. High School, Tommy was a quarterback and was named USA Today first-team All-America and was selected the Chicago Player of the Year.
-- The Son of the Legend, Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr., 24-0-1, 18 KOs, Culiacan, Mexico.
-- Hot featherweight prospect Juan Manuel Lopez, 10-0, 9 KOs, of Caguas, Puerto Rico.

Arum said he plans to have six bouts on the Top Rank Pay Per View telecast. "It's an exciting card from top to bottom," Arum said. "We all know what Paulie has been saying about Miguel Cotto so I'm anxious to see how that plays out when the two get into the ring. Everyone wants to see Tommy Zbikowski of Notre Dame on June 10. Bruce Trampler (TR matchmaker) told me Tommy had a lot of amateur fights. This will be Tommy's first professional fight." Tickets are $300, $200, $100 and $50 and are now on sale at Madison Square Garden.

    • From my inside sources Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is more than likely going to fight Jeremy "The Carolina Kid" Yelton June the tenth on the undercard of Malignaggi Cotto. I believe Yelton who is much faster than Chavez will come away with the upset if he comes in shape. I dont belive it will be that big of a shock to the Yelton camp who feels very confident that Chavez has been fed opponents and it will be Chavez's biggest test and the first that he will fail.

    • Thanks for the info. But I suspect that if Chavez has been fed opponents, then [url=http://www.boxrec.com/record45702.html:1zuqojqt]Yelton[/url:1zuqojqt] will just be another one of them.  ;)

    • You  don't know what your saying have you ever seen Yelton fight he just fought the number one ranked by the IBF Ricky Quiles and got ripped off by a hometown desicion by two rounds on the scorecards in a fight who anybody watched can tell you he clearly won. The picture you got was after the Yelton Fought Malignaggi and he took about 100 jabs thats all but if you knew anything about boxing you would know a lot of punches start to make your face swell up but maybe you didn't know that. He will destroy Chavez if he is in shape. He fought Malignaggi and trained for 3 weeks, Quiles 4 weeks, Santos didn't train, Larry Mosely 2 weeks.  :) :)

    • Well, looks like Chavez Jr is fighting a better oposition now, and if Yelton is what this guy is stating, we will be witnessing a really good fight!. I'm on CHavez's side, so, good luck to the "Junior"...

    • How much longer do we have to watch Chavez JR destroy actual cab drivers from the midwest who are trying to earn a pay check?  I too love Chavez senior and Im also excited about the possability of JR,  but JR has to fight tougher opposition in order to increase his skills.  Yelton has lost four of his las five fights and has been knocked out twice.  once on the first and once on the second round.  Any fighter becomes soft after a loss yelton has been soften up four times.  How much cushion are we going to give him?

    • Yelton has been stopped and he has lost four out of his last five but he has only trained a total of around 1 month and 1 week for those five fights. He is now dedicated to fighting and will be ready for anything chavez has to offer. He was stopped both times with a body shot because he was out of shape he has never been down with a head shot. I assure you he is going to be the toughest opponent that Chavez has faced yet. And if your looking for a upset of the year type fight your looking at it.
