Everybody is so caught up in the fact that Jr didnt knock out Cuello that they automatically open their mouths and start talking their trash. Cuello is exactly what Jr needed as the next step up and he did what he was suppose to do, he won. They dont stop n think , what you pointed out, Cuello came out of the same stable that Martinez is in. Nor the fact that you dont need to ko an opponent to win. Jr. proved that against Cuello. Jr broke through his defense enough to win the fight clearly. He didnt win in a remarkable fashion, but he won clearly. Yes, Cuello hit him, but not ENOUGH to win nor tie. So those people who say it was suppose to be a tie or loss...are thinkin exactly they way i described above, "Jr didnt ko and got hit, its a tie". AND yes he does need some improvement, but he'll learn as he goes along. People are getting anxious because hes the son of a legend but has not won anything yet. Jr definately showed heart no doubt, he could have boxed circles around Cuello the 2nd half of the fight but he chose to fight the man. Chavez is definately a fighter and Cuello was behind a turtle shell defense, if you noticed, he'd throw a combo then put his gloves right in front of his face again, I think hed be a headache for any 154 lb contender. I just think Chavez needs to improve on defense and add more uppercuts to his arsenal. You see things a second time that you missed watching it the first time, Chavez did throw lots of good combos and mixed it up, he just got hit too much. I dont think we can say he passed his first real test yet though, his first real test is when he fights a top ten 154 pounder IMO. Or in English which means: “a triumph very suffered/undergone for your son.” I don’t know why Sr. got so easily raged and went against the first person that asked him about his son’s fight but I think it’s because he knew that Jr. got physically beaten badly. In my opinion Jr. did not fight so well. He wasn’t throwing enough combinations and was an easy aim for Cuello.
