Mexican boxer Marco Antonio Nazareth passed away this morning. He underwent emergency surgery for a subdural hematoma Saturday night after a boxing match against Omar Chavez. Nazareth remained in critical but stable condition until Tuesday when his condition worsened, and doctors said that possibly only 10% of his brain function was working. Sadly, he passed away this morning at the young age of 23.

Marco Nazareth remains in critical condition after a three-hour surgery Saturday night, and doctors hope to see improvement within the next few days.

Last night after his fight against Omar Chavez, Marco Nazareth was taken to the hospital immediately for emergercy surgery for a subdural hematoma.
Nazareth had been knocked down in the first round, and referree Memo Ayon stopped the bout at 2:59 into the fourth round.

Chavez vs. Nazareth
Marco Nazareth (4-3-0) was knocked down in the first round. After another hard-fought three rounds, referee Memo Ayon stopped the bout at 2:59 into the fourth round, upping Omar Chavez’s record to 17-0-1.
Sadly, Nazareth suffered a subdural hematoma and passed away on July 22 despite immediate surgery.

Omar Chavez weighed in at 141 lbs. for his rematch this Saturday against Marco Nazareth, 142 lbs. The fight will take place at the Centro de Convenciones in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, as part of a card televised by TV Azteca and Azteca América.
