Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, 154, scored an impressive first round knockout over Jason LeHoullier, 154, Saturday night in the main event of Latin Fury 11. Chavez had received criticism for delaying the fight due to injury but entered the ring ready to dispel any doubts. After dropping LeHoullier with a left hook in the first round, Junior moved in for the finish. Referee Ruben Carrion stopped the fight at 2:43, and Chavez Jr’s record improves to 40-0-1 (30 KO’s).

Also on the card, WBO Minimumweight titlist Donnie Nietes retained his title with a split decision over Manuel Vargas, and Fernando Montiel’s bout against Alex Valdez ended on cuts after the third round and resulted in a technical draw.

The match between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, 39-0-1 (29 KOs) and Jason LeHoullier, 21-1-1 (8 KOs) will now be featured on Top Rank’s Latin Fury 11 on September 12 in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico.

The match was originally scheduled to take place on the Latin Fury X card on July 25 in the same city. Chavez Jr postponed the bout due to a rib injury.

Also on the September 12 card, WBO Minimumweight champ Donnie Neites will be defending his title against Manuel Vargas.
