<p>Fighting at the Arena Itson in Ciudad Obregon Sonora, Omar Chavez made quick work of his bout against Carlos Urrea (8-14, 3 KOs). After two knockdowns, Urrea was unable to continue, giving Omar the KO victory at 2:39 into the second round. Chavez upped his record to 19-0-1, 14 KOs.</p>
<p>Also on the card, Humberto Soto moved up in weight to win an unanimous decision over Jesus Chavez. Nehomar Cerreno scored an eleventh round knockout over Alejandro Valdez for the Interim WBA Bantamweight title. Hernan Marquez knocked out Ricardo Armenta in two rounds.</p>

<p>Julio Cesar Chavez Jr won a ten-round decision over Troy Rowland (25-2, 7 KOs) with scores of 99-91, 98-92, and 97-93.</p>
<p>After the fight, the Nevada Athletic Commission claimed that he used the diuretic Furosemide, a banned substance. If found guilty, Chavez could face a fine and suspension, with the result of the bout changed to a no-contest.</p>
<p>In the main event, Manny Pacquiao knocked out Miguel Cotto in the twelfth round to claim the WBO Welterweight title. Also on the card, Yuri Foreman scored a decision win over Daniel Santos to claim the WBA Light Middleweight title. Alfonso Gomez won a technical decision over Jesus Soto Karass after the bout was stopped on cuts in the sixth round.</p>

<p>In his New York debut, Omar Chavez scored an early knockdown against James Ventry (7-9-1) but was unable to keep the advantage. The fight went the six-round distance with two judges scoring 58-55 and the other scoring 59-54 in Omar&#8217;s favor.</p>
<p>The bout was on the undercard of Juan Manuel Lopez&#8217;s successful WBO Super Bantamweight title defense over Rogers Mtagwa with a majority decision. Also on the card, Yuriorkis Gamboa defended his WBA Featherweight title with a fourth-round KO over Whyber Garcia and John Duddy won an eight-round unanimous decision over Michi Munoz.</p>
<p>This was Chavez&#8217;s first time back in the ring since his July 18 rematch against Marco Nazareth, which ended tragically with Nazareth dying just days afterwards from a subdural hematoma suffered during the bout.</p>

He underwent emergency surgery for a subdural hematoma Saturday night after a boxing match against Omar Chavez. Nazareth remained in critical but stable condition until Tuesday when his condition worsened, and doctors said that possibly only 10% of his brain function was working. Sadly, he passed away this morning at the young age of 23.</p>
