Chavez knocked out Lindo 31 seconds into the second round.
THE OPPONENT – The Costa Rican challenger Roberto Collins Lindo had only one recorded win in the nine years of his career before facing Chavez, but it’s likely he had a number of other fights in Latin America which went unrecorded. He retired at the end of 1988 with a record of two wins and sixteen losses.
THE MAIN EVENT – Trevor Berbick earned the WBC heavyweight title with an unanimous decision over Pinklon Thomas. Also on the card, Bernard Benton lost his WBC cruiserweight title to Carlos DeLeon in a majority decision. Julian Jackson won a first round TKO over Mark Allman. Heavyweight James Pritchard knocked out Allen Hudson in four.
