Julio Cesar Chavez vs. Manuel Hernandez

Chavez knocked out Hernandez (13-1-2) in the third round.

THE OPPONENT – Manuel Hernandez of Oakland, CA, turned pro in 1980 and racked up his thirteen wins against mostly unimpressive opponents. Five months after the Chavez fight, he would lose a ten-round decision to Jose Luis Ramirez. He retired from boxing in 1987 with a record of 17-5-2 (6).

ALSO ON THE CARD – Hector Camacho knocked out Leoncio Ortiz in round six of an exhibition bout (w/ headgear and training gloves). Lupe Pintor scored a TKO win over Ronnie Gary in round six. German Torres KO’ed Luis Fernando Hernandez in the third.
