Julio Cesar Chavez vs. Kenny Vice

Chavez won by a third-round TKO over Vice (26-3-0, 21 KOs) in this non-title bout.

THE OPPONENT – Kenny Vice of Lafayette, LA, began his pro boxing career in 1983 but had had no major opponents prior to his fight with Chavez in ‘89. However, later that year he also got a shot at Livingstone Bramble for the NABF light welterweight title, but he lost when his corner stepped in in the sixth round to save him. Later he would suffer TKO losses to other notable opponents, including to Frankie Mitchell (for the vacant NABF lightweight title), to Homer Gibbins (for the WBF light welterweight title) and to Dingaan Thobela. When Vice retired in 1995, he had a record of 32-9 (26).

THE MAIN EVENT – WBA light middleweight champ Julian Jackson defended his title with a second round TKO of Terry Norris.
