THE OPPONENT – Daniel Felizardo of Matamoros (Mexico) started his pro career in 1975 and built up a pretty good record of 18 wins and five losses in his first few years. However, when he fought Chavez he had already started on a fifteen-bout losing streak which ended only upon his retirement in 1990.
