THE OPPONENT – Bruce Pearson, of Los Angeles, began boxing in 1986. He did alright at the beginning of the career but came into this match with a seven-fight losing streak, though he had never fought any real quality opponents. Pearson retired after this bout.

THE UNDERCARD – Gregorio Vargas retained the Mexican featherweight title with an eleventh-round TKO. Isaac Cruz lost to Miguel Angel Ramirez by a DQ in the fourth.
