THE OPPONENT – Adriano Arreola had his first pro fight in 1980. In 1981, he was knocked out by Roger Mayweather in six. Late in his career, he had a few shots at minor titles but lost and retired in 1992 with a record of 34-17-0 (17).

ALSO ON THE CARD – Welterweight Jorge Vaca knocked out Eduardo Dominguez in the seventh round. Alberto Davila won a twelfth round KO over Francisco Bejines to win the vacant WBA Bantamweight title. (Tragically, Bejines, whose head had struck the middle rope on his way to the canvas, died three days after the fight.)
